On 30 November the first ever Dutch Health Innovation School proudly graduated its first cohort of 50 of future health innovation leaders at an inspiring #PinkSocks ceremony at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in the Hague.
During the graduation, the cohort got an inspiring message from the person who started the global PinkSocks movement, Nick Adkins.
“There’s magic when we each give ourselves the permission to stop our minds & to really listen to what the other person is saying. don’t miss each story that is waiting to be told.” – Nick Adkins
The specialized 5-month training program helped build foundational competencies in “how” to enable and lead all types of innovation – process, service, financing, policy, etc. – with the whole system in the room.
Participants in the first cohort, a group that was part of building the first prototype of the curriculum, shared a number of reflections about their experiences, such as:
“Great programme: great insights, tools and network. Great energy to create THE mindset to innovate! If you want to learn what you can DO to innovate the healthcare system for patients; this is a must do!” – Marieke Soree, Projectleider at RealHealth Maartenskliniek
“Health and innovation starts and ends for, with and by the patient together … ” – Ineke Hazelzet, patient and family advisor, IKoNE
“Health innovation begins to answer the question: for whom did we start working in the health system, and gives us the tools to escape from the boundaries of the system and encounter our patients as human beings.” – Dr. Chalmer Hoynck Van Papendrecht, physician at Bernhoven Hospital physician
“Feel the energy of innovation, feel the energy of others and get the energy to make the world better!” – Jordi Hartemink, Product- en propositiemanager at Menzis health insurance company
To hear more from the first cohort, scan through their quotes on the website, or watch some of their short 1 minute interviews on the School’s Youtube channel.
Many of the recorded training sessions and materials from the program are now available online for the broader health ecosystem to get a taste of the rich experience of the first cohort and first edition of the curriculum.
